Athletics at Westglades

The Broward County Middle School Athletic Association (MSAA) of Broward County Public Schools is committed to building leaders through sportsmanship, citizenship, and fair play. MSAA currently oversees 59 public and charter middle schools and 8 different sports. The MSAA sports are Soccer, Cross Country, Golf, Basketball, Track & Field Events, Flag Football, Volleyball, and Floorball.

All student-athletes must maintain a minimum of a 2.0 GPA.  Students who fall below this standard are ineligible to play.

Welcome to Westglades Middle School Athletics!

One Pack. One Goal. Go Wolves

We are excited to welcome both new and returning families to another exciting year of middle school sports. At Westglades, we believe athletics are a vital part of a well-rounded education, helping students develop teamwork, resilience, and school pride—all while having fun and staying active.

This year, we are proud to offer a full lineup of sports across all three seasons:

  • Fall: Soccer, Cross Country, Golf, Sideline & Competitive Cheer
  • Winter: Basketball, Volleyball, Flag Football and the continuation of Sideline & Competitive Cheer
  • Spring: Floorball, Wrestling, Track & Field

Each sport provides a unique opportunity for students to challenge themselves, learn new skills, and build friendships that last beyond the season. Our goal is to ensure every student has the opportunity to explore athletics in a supportive, inclusive environment—whether they’re trying out for a sport for the first time or continuing to develop their skills.

Information regarding interest meetings prior to tryouts will be announced at school, shared via email, text, and posted on our Instagram page @wms_wolves. These meetings are a great way for students to learn about participation requirements, tryout dates, meet the coaches, and ask questions. We strongly encourage students to attend these meetings if they are considering trying out for a team.

Due to updated Broward County Middle School Athletic Association policies, all students must complete the full registration process before attending tryouts for any sport. To be eligible, the following must be submitted through www.registermyathlete.com(Click here to access directions for registermyathlete.com)

✅ Parent Checklist for Athletic Eligibility:

Once you submit each form, it will be reviewed for approval. If a form is incomplete or incorrect, it will be rejected, and you’ll be notified by email with instructions to correct and resubmit. When your child’s registration is fully approved, you will receive a confirmation email notification.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly. We’re looking forward to a great year of athletics, and we can’t wait to see what our student-athletes accomplish.

Go Wolves

Sincerely,
Shannon Langston
