What is Best Buddies? Best Buddies is a club at Westglades Middle that fosters friendships between people with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities offering social mentoring while improving quality of life and level of inclusion.

The new mountain bike club will talk about all the skills, local trails in the area, and what type of bike they will need if they are interested in coming out to practice once a week. Ms. Davies will have semi-pro riders from South Florida coming to speak about nutrition and bike concepts and will also bring in her own mountain bike to talk about all the parts of a bicycle, gearing, etc.

What is Jr. Thespians? Drama Club & Florida Jr. Thespians Drama Club at WMS gives students the chance to explore acting, performance, and stagecraft in a fun, creative environment. Drumline - Learn how to play fun songs and cadences in the Drumline! Any WMS student is welcome, no musical experience necessary to join!

This group meets before the school day on Thursdays from 8:00am-9:00am in Room 304 starting August 27th. The Drumline performs at the band concerts throughout the year, school events, and local parades in the community.

What is Harvest Drive? For over 30 years, our local schools have come together to help our food insecure families for the holidays. Westglades Middle School is a distribution site (2nd largest distribution site in Broward Schools) which means we collect, sort, count, and package all the donations delivered from 20 schools within our Harvest Drive zone. Our incredible students act as Harvest Drive Helpers by running this huge distribution center from the beginning stages of advertising until the last of 2000+ bags are picked up by our appreciative families. Our Harvest Drive Helpers bring an amazing level of compassion, energy, and kindness to this event every year.

What is HOSA? HOSA-Future Health Professionals is a student-led club for students interested in healthcare careers. Members develop leadership skills, explore health professions, participate in service projects, and compete in health science events at local, state, and national levels.

What is Howling Wolves eSports? The Howling Wolves eSports Club at Westglades Middle School provides a structured and inclusive environment where students can play video games competitively and cooperatively. Through organized gameplay, members develop teamwork, leadership, sportsmanship, and communication skills while also learning about digital literacy and responsible gaming. The club meets weekly before school and is open to students who meet academic and behavioral expectations. With faculty advisors Mr. Clarke and Mr. Francis, the club offers students a fun and engaging way to connect with peers while exploring the exciting and growing world of eSports.

Jazz Band - The Jazz Band a mixed ensemble of approximately 20+ players, including but not limited to: Saxophones, Trombones, Trumpets, Piano, Bass, Guitar, Drum Set, and Auxiliary Percussion. This group is open to all players without audition, with the intent of providing an advanced music-making experience for driven players in Jazz Performance. Players must be able to read musical notation/chords.

This ensemble meets before the school day from 8:00am-9:00am in Room 304. The Jazz Band performs at the band concerts throughout the year and District Jazz Performance Assessment (MPA). See Ms. Gilbert for more information.

Lego Club: Students in the LEGO Club will collaborate to design and build using LEGO bricks and engineering concepts. Through hands-on challenges, students will strengthen their problem-solving, teamwork, and critical-thinking skills while exploring STEM-related ideas. The club provides a fun and engaging environment where students can use their imagination and share their creations with others.

Meeting Details: Want to join the Math Club?  Count me in!

The Westglades Middle School Math Club will practice once a week and participate in several competitions.  The first practice will be on Thursday, September 24th at 8:30 A.M. with Mrs. Gram in room 107 and will meet every Thursday after that until the end of the season.  Here are the math competitions for this year:

AMC 8 Competition (January 21 to 27, 2027):  The AMC 8 is a 25-question, 40-minute, multiple choice examination in middle school mathematics designed to promote the development of problem-solving skills. It will take place in January and is completed at school.

Math Counts Competition (February, 2027):  The MATHCOUNTS Competition Series is a national program that provides students the opportunity to compete in live, in-person contests against and alongside their peers. Created in 1983, it is the longest-running MATHCOUNTS program and is open to all sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students.  This will take place in February and is usually held at Nova Southeastern University.

What is NJHS? The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is a premier organization established in 1929 by the National Principals Association to recognize and empower middle-level students who excel in scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. Designed to help young scholars grow into well-rounded leaders, NJHS chapters engage over one million students nationwide through impactful community service, character building, and leadership development programs. By fostering active citizenship and academic enthusiasm, our school’s NJHS chapter provides students with meaningful opportunities to make a positive impact in their school, community, and future educational pursuits.

What is PAWS? P.A.W.S CLUB (Promoting Animal Welfare in Schools) The objective of the group is to bring awareness about various animal issues to the school. We will address issues related to pet overpopulation, shelters, puppy mills and taking care of our own companion animals. We will learn about the democratic process by writing to our city and state officials on behalf of animals in need of protection. We will explore what kindness to animals mean, not only dogs and cats but also farm animal We will look at respect for animals in entertainment, such as zoos, circuses and marine parks. This would be an action-oriented group where the students would have opportunity to practice their writing, reading, research and public speaking skills. Students may participate in a collection of items for animal sanctuaries/shelters, etc.

What is SADD? Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) is a national organization that was originally founded to fight drunk driving, and has since grown to fight a number of other related problems such as drug use, underage drinking, risky and impaired driving, teen violence, teen suicide, and other destructive behaviors and attitudes that are harmful to young adults.  The organization’s unique approach encourages young people to deliver education and prevention messages to their peers through school and community-wide activities and campaigns.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭? Student Government (SGA) is a club that provides students with the experience to become leaders and help out our school. SGA officers are charged with the duty of continuously expanding and coordinating meetings, which normally occur every other Wednesday @8:30AM in Room 149.  At our biweekly meetings, we discuss important information and ways to further help out our school.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈𝐬 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞 𝐎𝐟 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧?  Westglades SGA uses an app called “GroupMe” as our main source of communication. On GroupMe, we send meeting information, answer questions you guys may have, and other important things going on in SGA.

Over the past years, Student Government has initiated, executed, and planned the Annual Talent Show, 5K Run/Walk, Florida Panthers Game Fundraiser, Teacher Appreciation Week, Winter Dance, Krispy Kreme Fundraisers, and a ton of pictures and moments throughout the year which end up in the yearbook!  Furthermore, Student Government has been instrumental in the Harvest Drive and 5^th Grade Showcase Night!

Wolf Pack Poets: The Wolf Pack Poetry Club is a supportive creative community where students write, perform, and compete in poetry slams while developing their unique voices and strengthening their craft. Beyond competition, the club provides a safe space for self-expression, emotional support, mental wellness, self-discovery, and connection, allowing students to transform their experiences into powerful spoken and written poetry.
