Testing Information
Dear Westglades Parents and Families,
Students will be taking the Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) PM1 test during the beginning of September. It's vital that students do their best on all FAST tests, as they are a key part of tracking academic progress. Please review the FAST PM 1 and PM 2 Parent Letter.
Some students mistakenly believe that the PM1 and PM2 tests don't count because the FAST is taken three times, so they don't try their hardest. However, this is a misconception. The FAST is an adaptive test, meaning the difficulty of the questions adjusts based on the student's answers. If a student answers correctly, the next question gets harder; if they answer incorrectly, it gets easier. Skipping or rushing through questions can negatively impact the test's ability to accurately assess a student's skill level, making it much more difficult to achieve a proficient score of Level 3 or higher.
PM 1:
6th Grade: ELA 9/8, Math 9/15
7th Grade: ELA 9/9, Math 9/16*
8th Grade: ELA 9/10, Math 9/16*

6th Grade: ELA 12/2, Math 12/8
7th Grade: ELA 12/3, Math 12/9*
8th Grade: ELA 12/4, Math 12/9*
*Algebra and Geometry students DO NOT take a FAST Math Test*
